Government & Institutions

Building fashion sectors for governments and institutions

FHMC designs and delivers national fashion-sector programmes end-to-end: strategy, selection, mentoring, internationalisation and institutional handover. Our measure of success is simple and unusual in consulting: the programmes we build keep running after we leave.

Saudi 100 Brands, Fashion Commission, Saudi Arabia Ministry of Culture (2021–2023)

We designed, built and led the Kingdom’s national fashion designer development programme: 100 brands in eight categories, selected from more than 1,300 applicants; monthly one-to-one mentoring; international showcases in Paris and New York; delivered with a team of consultants from seven countries. The programme continues today as the Fashion Commission’s flagship designer development platform, now in its fifth season.

Bogotá Fashion Week, Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá, Colombia(2019–2020)

We redesigned the strategic architecture of Bogotá Fashion Week: international curation standards, buyer-readiness mentoring and a structured B2B business platform. The programme has since scaled to buyer delegations from 22 countries and over USD 4 million in immediate business per edition, with its ninth edition in preparation.

What we build

Sector strategy and mapping. Designer selection and development systems. Buyer-readiness and internationalisation pathways. Institutional capability building, so the programme belongs to the institution, not to the consultant. Workshops and executive education for public-sector teams.

Who we work with

Cultural ministries and creative commissions, trade and export agencies, chambers of commerce, fashion councils, development banks and universities. Institutional work to date has included the Mayor of London, the British Fashion Council, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, and the Chambers of Commerce of London, Milan, Gipuzkoa, Miami, Bogotá, Lima and Jalisco. Additional engagements across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America are conducted under institutional confidentiality; named references are available on request.

How engagements begin

With a Diagnostic adapted to institutions: a fixed-scope assessment of the sector, the institution’s capabilities and the realistic programme options, delivered in weeks, not quarters.
